A fairytale: The Princess and the blog

Once upon a time, there was a girl (we’ll call her a princess for the story’s sake) who started a blog. As it turns out, she can’t hyperlink the blog that she wrote, because it is seemingly no longer in existence. Bugger. Regardless, it was the most fantastical blog in all of the land, and documented the princess’ travels to Pittsburgh from the sleepy town of Clarion. You see, Princess Ali was offered an internship at a fancy PR agency in Pittsburgh, Jack Horner Communications. At the same time, Princess Ali was offered the opportunity to write about her internship experience, and the transition from little town to big city living. The blog was published on her University’s website in hopes to drive prospective students to attend Clarion. Yippee!

Princess Ali wrote about all sorts of things. She wrote about the day that she stuffed 800 Heinz tote bags for a Burger cook-off in the midst of a blizzard. She wrote about her new experiences in the city (and all of the times she got lost trying to navigate it). She wrote about the time that she mentioned her love for a particular YouTube star, and he wrote her an e-mail thanking her for the shout out on her blog. The blog was the most popular of its kind (there were six other princes and princesses writing of their experiences in college, too) and her family especially enjoyed reading about her adventures. Especially King of Illinoisland Bob.

At the end of the semester, which also happened to be graduation from Princess training at Clarion University, Princess Ali stopped blogging.

(Insert cricket noises, and images of passing seasons from Spring –> Summer –> Fall)

Princess Ali continued to live in Pittsburgh, having one of the best summers of her life, with fellow Princess, and bff Princess Kate. Prince Dom took them on martini tastings, to Pirate games, to eat ice cream, and to have random and fun times. Unfortunately, this all went undocumented. Shame.

In November, Princess Ali traveled with Queen of Pennsylvanialand Momma, and Princess-in-training Bekah to see the whole royal family in Chicago and Wisconsin, as they do every year. Queen of Chicagoland Maureen and King of Chicagoland Mark host much of the royal family, and Queen of Wisconsinland Lainey hosts a spectacular Thanksgiving feast. Queen M.J. and King Bob are present, among 30+ of the Slattery/Potter/Haugen/Locke/Gunnare/Burke Royal family.

At Queen Lainey’s, Queen M.J. came up to Princess Ali and said “Bob just LOVED your blog. It made his day reading it. You’ve GOT to continue writing. It lifted his spirits so much!” You see, at the time, King Bob was not feeling so hot, and was spending a lot of time with important doctors, having important tests done, and receiving important treatments. Sometimes people in the Royal family receive important treatment.

As it turns out, King Bob echoed similar sentiments about Princess Ali’s blogging. Princess Ali vowed to start a blog in the New Year… and so the next generation of blogging began.

The blog posts were still completely random, but they kept a smile on people’s faces, and everyone deserves to smile. Also, with such a spread out Royal family, it’s a great way to keep the family updated on the happenings of a Princess in the city.

Time passed, and the blogging continued. Always random. Sometimes it was a tale of an adventure to another big city. Sometimes it was videos from amazing experiences with wonderful people. Sometimes it was an attempt to post 30 Days of Thankful. But it was always with King Bob and his smile in mind.

As it turns out, change is good, and Princess Ali decided to abandon the current blog, and transition to this new and improved blog. Still, the stories are random. Still the stories are meant to make you smile. Always, the stories are for King Bob. HI KING BOB!!!

(To round out a good fairy tale about a Princess, you always have to finish the tale: “And she lived happily ever after. The end.”)
